Galie Bowersmith, RVT

Vice President, Clinical Services

Galie Bowersmith, RVT, is Vice President of Clinical Services at MedVet with direct responsibility for overseeing the Hospital Directors in the West region. In this role, Galie is a collaborative thought leader working in partnership with colleagues at all levels to live MedVet’s values of teamwork, leadership, and compassion and mission of Leading Specialty Healthcare for Pets. Her history at MedVet spans more than 20 years as Galie previously served as the Hospital Director at MedVet Columbus for nine years, a Clinical Manager for Surgery, Anesthesia, and Ophthalmology for more than six years, plus as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) for more than five years. She joined MedVet in 2005 and is dedicated to preserving the integrity of the veterinary healthcare profession.

In 2025, she was awarded VECCS Practice Leader of the Year at the Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society (IVECCS) conference. This national recognition highlighted Galie’s incredible leadership, dedication to her team, and commitment to delivering the best outcomes for pets and their families. In 2024, she was presented with the Dr. Eric R. Schertel Outstanding Leader Award alongside the Medical Director of MedVet Columbus.

Prior to joining MedVet, Galie began her career in the veterinary profession in 2002 as a Veterinary Assistant and went on to become a Registered Veterinary Technician, gaining experience in both specialty and emergency medicine with more than 15 years of direct patient care and people leadership. She attended The Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College where she earned an associate’s degree in animal sciences.

Galie resides in Marysville, OH, with her husband and children. She is active in the local agriculture community supporting youth development in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H programs.
