Melody Ward, DVM, is a Residency Trained Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Veterinarian at WestVet Meridian, where she has been a part of the team since 2024.
Dr. Ward earned her Bachelor of Science degree in zoology with a minor in chemistry from Western Illinois University. She then completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Ward pursued further training through a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her residency in Emergency & Critical Care at the same institution.
Dr. Ward’s primary areas of interest within veterinary medicine include cardiopulmonary resuscitation, critical care procedures, enhancing patient comfort and wellbeing, point-of-care ultrasound, and teaching. Her passion for veterinary medicine is reflected in her dedication to helping critically ill patients recover and seeing them return to their normal behaviors.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ward has published articles in veterinary journals on topics including feline cardiopulmonary resuscitation, septic peritonitis, and other critical care-related subjects, contributing to advancements in veterinary emergency and critical care.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Melody Ward enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, and hiking with her husband and their dogs, Grimm and Nimbus. She also has a passion for reading, playing video games, trying new recipes, and traveling.
