Mark Byrum, DVM, Diplomate, ACVIM (Oncology), is a Board-Certified Veterinary Oncologist at MedVet Chicago. He joined our team in 2023.
Dr. Byrum earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Following this, Dr. Byrum completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at Purdue University. He then returned to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to complete his medical oncology residency.
Dr. Mark Byrum is an accomplished researcher and author. While he is interested in many areas of Medical Oncology, he has a particular interest in bone cancer. Dr. Byrum’s favorite part of working in veterinary medicine is navigating a new set of challenges every day, as well as helping pet parents understand options to prioritize maintaining a good quality of life for their pets.
When not helping pets feel better, Dr. Byrum can be found hiking, roller-skating, listening to live music, or binge-watching television to relax.
