Maria Alcala-Galaviz, DVM, is a Veterinary Intern at WestVet Boise, where she has been part of the team since 2026.
Dr. Alcala-Galaviz attended Washington State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. George’s University and completed her clinical year at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Although she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, Dr. Alcala-Galaviz has a particular interest in preventive care. One of her favorite parts of the veterinary profession is the opportunity to combine problem-solving, hands-on medicine, and meaningful relationships with both patients and their families. She values the trust pet owners place in their veterinary team and finds it especially rewarding to make a positive difference in an animal’s quality of life.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Maria Alcala-Galaviz enjoys reading and spending time outdoors in nature.
