Heather McKechnie, MSci (Hons), BVM&S, MRCVS, is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet Columbus. She has been a member of the team since 2024.
Dr. McKechnie grew up in Albuquerque, NM, however, home for her is Scotland. She attended The University of Aberdeen in Scotland, where she earned a Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree. Additionally, she completed a master’s in biomedical research in Germany before returning to Scotland for veterinary medicine education at The University of Edinburgh, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.
Dr. Heather McKechnie strongly values client communication and fostering the human-animal bond. She works with families to find optimal care plans for both them and their pets and is dedicated to providing the best possible care for each patient. Dr. McKechnie has an affinity for feline medicine, especially Feline Idiopathic Cystitis and feline stress management. Additionally, she has an interest in cases involving interventional procedures, wound management, acute abdomens, and polytrauma. Dr. McKechnie is passionate about education and enjoys teaching veterinary medicine students.
Some of Dr. McKechnie’s hobbies include traveling, trying new foods, cooking, dancing, and music. She enjoys spending time with friends and playing board games, as well as spending downtime with her two cats, Haus and Frankie.
