Find a Doctor Geoff Simons

Geoff Simons, MSW, CSW-UT

Geoff is the Veterinary Social Worker for MedVet’s Salt Lake City & Northern Utah hospitals. Geoff has worked in a variety of social work environments including The Department of Children and Families, Hospice & Palliative Care, and most recently, Geoff has discovered his passion for animal welfare.

Prior to joining MedVet, Geoff worked for the second largest municipal animal shelter in the state of Florida where he led a team of animal welfare case managers who focused on the human-animal bond. By taking a community-based approach, Geoff developed programs and cultivated resources for low-income county residents seeking a variety of services for their pets and themselves. Leading by example, he regularly would work together with his team to process stray animals entering the shelter, de-escalate elevated county residents, and to manage more complex owner surrender cases. During the Florida Hurricane season, he would manage emergency shelter operations for special needs residents and their pets.

Geoff believes education is one of the foundational building blocks to social work. Iin addition to his role at MedVet, Geoff works as an Undergraduate Social Work Adjunct Professor for a Saint Leo University in Florida.

While not working, Geoff can be found lounging with his two fur babies, working on creative projects, and staying active by indulging in a variety of outdoor activities. He considers himself to be upbeat, energetic, and a people person, so if you see him in person, please say “hi!”
