Floyd L. Williams, Jr., DVM is a Veterinary Critical Care Resident at MedVet Columbus, proudly serving the team since 2024.
Dr. Williams earned his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture with a concentration in animal and food science from Prairie View A&M University, followed by his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. He furthered his education by completing a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at IndyVet Emergency & Specialty Hospital.
Dr. Williams has a special interest in anesthesia and pain management, exotic pet and wildlife triage and stabilization, surgery, toxicology, and trauma. He finds great fulfillment in being there for his patients and their families when they need him the most.
When away from the hospital, Dr. Williams enjoys participating in mission trips with One Health in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, providing medicine, surgery, and preventative care to remote villages in the mountains.
His favorite hobby is taking his ball python, Pharaoh, to inner-city schools and after-school programs to demonstrate physical exams on snakes and teach students how to listen to the heart of a snake. Providing a familiar face in this profession is his absolute passion and he believes it is the best way to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in veterinary medicine.
