Cortney Pelzek, DVM, Diplomate, ACVIM (Cardiology), is a Board-Certified Veterinary Cardiologist at MedVet Chicago, where she has been part of the team since 2024.
Dr. Pelzek earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a rotating medicine & surgery internship at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center and a residency in Cardiology at Cornell University Hospital for Animals.
Dr. Pelzek is passionate about understanding and treating all cardiovascular diseases, with a special interest in arrhythmias and interventional procedures for congenital heart conditions. She has contributed to various publications, including the Journal of Veterinary Cardiology in addition to being a contributing author in a book on cardiac arrhythmias in dogs and cats.
One of her favorite aspects of the veterinary medicine profession is the personal connections she builds with her patients and their families. Dr. Pelzek believes that open communication and a collaborative team approach are essential throughout every stage of a patient’s heart disease management.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Cortney Pelzek cherishes the time spent with her family and friends and loves to spoil her dog and two cats. She also enjoys attending live shows, photography, Pilates, reading, traveling, and yoga.
