Claire Johnson is a licensed Veterinary Social Worker at MedVet Chicago where she has been a part of the team since 2023.
Claire had always dreamed of working as an emergency veterinarian but realized in college she wasn’t cut out for math and science. She is now so happy to be able to work in the veterinary field in a role that fits her strengths: helping people who love animals. In addition to providing direct support to clients, Claire also manages a robust masters level social work internship program, which has allowed the Chicago hospital to expand social work coverage to evenings and weekends.
She is a graduate of Skidmore College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and from Loyola University Chicago where she earned a master’s degree in social work. Claire has also completed a post graduate certificate in Veterinary Social Work from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
While not supporting clients, Claire enjoys riding her horse Bear and learning dressage together, reading, playing videogames, and spending time by Lake Michigan.
