Monica Chen, DVM, MS, Diplomate, ACVS, is a Board-certified Veterinary Surgeon at MedVet Silicon Valley, where she has been part of the team since 2025.
Dr. Monica Chen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of California, San Diego. She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Following her graduate studies, Dr. Chen completed surgery internships at Kansas State University and the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center before completing a surgical residency at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. Chen’s special interests include fracture repair, minimally invasive surgery, osteoarthritic pain, and soft tissue surgery. She has also contributed to veterinary research, authoring and co-authoring peer-reviewed publications in orthopedic implant systems, spinal pin placement, and cellular response studies. Dr. Chen enjoys collaborating with families to develop care plans or explore alternative therapies that provide relief and improve her patients’ quality of life. She finds managing polytrauma cases especially rewarding.
When not performing surgery, Dr. Monica Chen enjoys traveling, trying new foods, listening to audiobooks, and working on puzzles.
