Petra Koenig, BVM&S, is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet Mandeville and MedVet New Orleans, where she began caring for patients in 2025.
Dr. Petra Koenig earned a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree from The Royal Veterinary College. She continued her education at the same institution, earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Dr. Koenig has special interests in Emergency and Critical Care, as well as Internal Medicine. She is drawn to the continual challenge of veterinary medicine and enjoys solving complex problems to improve the lives of her patients. One of her favorite aspects of the profession is helping pets feel better and witnessing the deep bond they share with their families.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Koenig enjoys singing and is always looking for more time to make music. She also loves rock climbing and exploring the city on foot.
