Adam Nylund, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS (Small Animal), is a Board-certified Veterinary Surgeon at WestVet Boise, where he has been a valued team member since 2018.
Dr. Nylund earned his bachelor’s degrees in biology and wildlife biology from the University of Montana, followed by his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He then completed a yearlong small animal rotating internship at North Carolina State University and a yearlong specialty internship in veterinary surgery at Mission Veterinary Specialists.
Returning to the northwest, Dr. Nylund undertook a three-year surgery residency through the Washington State University/WestVet combined program. During his residency, he spent several months training with WestVet’s team and eagerly joined them full-time after completing the program. Additionally, he earned a Master of Science degree in veterinary sciences from WSU during his residency.
Dr. Nylund is proficient in numerous advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgical procedures, with a primary focus on orthopedic surgery. He is highly skilled in complex fracture repair, canine joint surgery (ACL injury, patella luxation, elbow dysplasia, ligament injury, etc.), and arthroscopy (minimally invasive joint assessment). He also pursued advanced training in soft tissue minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy and thoracoscopy) and is certified through the Veterinary Assessment of Laparoscopic Skills (VALS) program.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Adam Nylund enjoys spending time outdoors. Growing up near the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana, he thoroughly enjoys recreational activities with
his wife and two dogs. At home, he likes working in his shop, restoring muscle cars, and building custom hardwood furniture.
