MedVet Celebrates Veterinary Excellence on AAHA-Accredited Hospital Day

July 25, 2019

MedVet is joining the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) in celebrating AAHA-Accredited Hospital Day on July 22. MedVet earned AAHA accreditation, which is awarded to veterinary hospitals practicing the highest level of veterinary excellence, after a rigorous review of the hospital’s practice protocols, medical equipment, facility and client service.

The mission of AAHA-Accredited Hospital Day is to highlight the exceptional care provided by AAHA-accredited practices. Unlike human hospitals, animal hospitals are not required to be accredited, a fact that is not common knowledge to many pet owners. In 2016, AAHA designated July 22 as AAHA-Accredited Hospital Day in an effort to educate pet owners about what accreditation means for their pets and to thank accredited practices for holding themselves to a higher standard.

Accredited hospitals are the only hospitals that choose to be evaluated on approximately 900 quality standards that go above and beyond basic state regulations, ranging from patient care and pain management to staff training and advanced diagnostic services. AAHA-accredited hospitals are recognized among the finest in the profession and are consistently at the forefront of advanced veterinary medicine. AAHA standards are continuously reviewed and updated to keep accredited practices on the cutting edge of veterinary excellence.

Only the top small animal hospitals in the United States and Canada have achieved accreditation by the Association. To maintain accredited status, MedVet hospitals must continue to be evaluated regularly by AAHA.
