Jennie Culen, DVM, Diplomate, ACVECC, is a Board-certified Specialist in Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care and the Medical Director at MedVet Chicago, where she has been a part of the team since 2026.
Dr. Culen earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in bacteriology and genetics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. Following veterinary school, Dr. Culen completed an internship in emergency medicine at Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center, followed by a second internship in critical care at MassVet Referral. She went on to complete a residency in critical care at Fox Valley Animal Referral Center and achieved board certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
Dr. Culen’s clinical interests include trauma care, transfusion medicine, and teaching. Her favorite part of the veterinary profession is supporting her team and fostering a positive, collaborative environment where everyone can provide exceptional care to patients and their families.
When not caring for patients and supporting her team, Dr. Jennie Culen enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her children—both furry and human.
