Emily Austin, DVM, is a Specialty Intern in Veterinary Surgery at WestVet Boise, where she began caring for patients in 2025.
Dr. Emily Austin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology from Washington State University and went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After veterinary school, she completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Austin’s clinical interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, as well as wound healing. She is passionate about working as part of a collaborative care team to find solutions tailored to each patient’s needs. One of her favorite parts of practicing veterinary medicine is building strong relationships with both pets and their families, guiding them through the healing process with compassion and care.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Emily Austin enjoys spending time outdoors. Her favorite activities include backpacking, cycling, hiking, and skiing—each one giving her the chance to recharge, explore, and stay connected to nature.
