Danielle E. Strahl-Heldreth, DVM, MSEd, MSVMS, CVA, Diplomate, ACVAA, is a Board-certified Specialist in Veterinary Anesthesia & Analgesia at MedVet Salt Lake City, where she has been part of the team since 2026.
Dr. Strahl-Heldreth attended Duquesne University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in biochemistry, as well as a Master of Science in Education. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and a Master of Science in Veterinary Clinical Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Following veterinary school, Dr. Strahl-Heldreth completed an internship in anesthesia and analgesia at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital, followed by a rotating medicine and surgery internship at IndyVet Emergency and Specialty Hospital, before completing her residency in anesthesia and analgesia at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Strahl-Heldreth enjoys all aspects of Anesthesia & Pain Management, with particular interests in developing safe, effective anesthetic protocols for a wide range of patients, including non-traditional species. She is also interested in integrating Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine techniques to support peri-operative and chronic pain management. Dr. Strahl-Heldreth has co-authored a peer-reviewed publication on anesthesia in common garter snakes, reflecting her commitment to advancing safe anesthesia practices across species. One of her favorite parts of the veterinary profession is advancing patient care while mentoring and educating others in the art and science of anesthesia.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Danielle Strahl-Heldreth enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, three dogs, and two horses. She also enjoys cooking, exploring new cuisines, gardening, and looks forward to experiencing Utah’s public lands and learning to grow food in a desert environment.
