Courtney Bartels, DVM
Courtney Bartels, DVM, is a veterinarian who is Limited to the Practice of Surgery at MedVet Austin, where she began caring for patients in 2025.
Dr. Courtney Bartels earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with double majors in management and marketing from Grand Valley State University. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following veterinary school, she completed a rotating medicine and surgery internship at Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine and a surgery internship at Central Texas Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital. She later completed a surgical residency at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Bartels’ special interests include laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, soft tissue trauma, and the surgical management of complex conditions. She has contributed to veterinary research through peer-reviewed publications addressing topics such as mast cell tumor biology, perianesthetic hypothermia, and fungal granulomas in cats. Her favorite part of the veterinary profession is helping pets and their families while working in a collaborative clinical environment.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Courtney Bartels enjoys hiking and traveling.
