Emergency Medicine Veterinarian
Alison Mikes, DVM, is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet Mandeville and MedVet New Orleans, where she has been part of the team since 2026.
Dr. Mikes attended Louisiana State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in animal, dairy, and poultry sciences with a minor in business. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Following veterinary school, Dr. Mikes completed an internship in rotating medicine and surgery at Animal Medical Hospital.
Although she enjoys all aspects of emergency veterinary medicine, Dr. Mikes has a special interest in building relationships with pet owners and helping them understand their pet’s condition and care. She values clear communication and takes pride in educating families so they feel informed and confident in decisions regarding their pet’s health. One of her favorite parts of the veterinary profession is supporting both patients and their families through important moments in their care.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Alison Mikes enjoys spending time outdoors with her two young children.
