Abigail Sturbaum, DVM, Practice Limited to Diseases of the Animal Eye

Abigail Sturbaum, DVM, is a veterinarian who is Practice Limited to Diseases of the Animal Eye at MedVet Dallas, where she began caring for patients in 2025.

Dr. Abigail Sturbaum earned a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from California Polytechnic State University. She then earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following veterinary school, she completed a rotating medicine and surgery internship at Kansas State University Veterinary Health Center. She went on to complete a residency in ophthalmology at the Animal Eye Clinic of Spokane.

Dr. Sturbaum enjoys all aspects of ophthalmology, with particular interest in ophthalmic surgery, especially corneal procedures. She is also passionate about managing a variety of ocular diseases to help preserve vision and improve her patients’ quality of life.

She has authored a peer-reviewed publication in Veterinary Ophthalmology on the use of MicroPulse™ transscleral cyclophotocoagulation in equine patients. Her favorite part of the veterinary profession is caring for animals while also strengthening the human–animal bond, and she finds it incredibly rewarding to play a role in improving both her patients’ health and the happiness of their families.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Abigail Sturbaum enjoys exercising, spending time with her dogs, and relaxing at the lake with friends and family.
