Laura E. Reed, DVM, is the Medical Director at MedVet Austin, where she has been part of the team since 2025.
Dr. Laura Reed earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with minors in animal science and chemistry from Southern Arkansas University before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Reed’s professional interests include clinical toxicology, emergency and critical care, emergency surgery, and teaching and mentoring new doctors and veterinary professionals. Her favorite part of the veterinary profession is stepping into high-stress, often frightening emergency situations to stabilize critically ill or injured pets. She finds deep purpose in helping patients recover and providing comfort and clear communication to their families during those moments. Dr. Reed also enjoys sharing her knowledge with others and takes pride in mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals.
When not at the hospital, Dr. Laura Reed enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs. Together, they love to travel and experience new places and cultures. Dr. Reed and her husband are also the founders of LiVTiv, a nonprofit organization that helps provide funds to cover the costs of veterinary care for service pets of veterans.
