Mariel J. Weigel, DVM, is a veterinary intern at WestVet Boise, contributing since 2024.
Dr. Weigel earned her Bachelor of Science degree in bioengineering with a focus in mechanical and material engineering from Lehigh University. She furthered her education by obtaining her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine.
While she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, Dr. Weigel has particular interests in pain management, emergency and critical care, integrative medicine, internal medicine, shelter and wildlife medicine, and rehabilitation. One of her favorite aspects of veterinary medicine is the problem-solving involved. She is also passionate about understanding nonverbal cues and animal behavior.
When not caring for patients, she enjoys camping, climbing, hiking, longboarding with her dog, snowboarding, and weightlifting. Dr. Weigel also nurtures her passion for music, focusing on drumset, but she enjoys playing a variety of other instruments.
