Shocking News: Electrochemotherapy as a New Cancer Treatment Modality

This live interactive medical program for veterinary professionals will review electrochemotherapy treatment for dogs and cats with cancer. This course will also include the methodology, plus clinical scenarios and outcomes with this local control treatment.

Learning Objectives

  1. Electrochemotherapy is a viable treatment option for common cutaneous or subcutaneous masses in dogs and cats with minimal side effects.
  2. Recognize electrochemotherapy as an alternative to aggressive surgical or radiation treatments, particularly for adequate local control of incompletely excised mast cell tumors (MCT) and soft tissue sarcomas (STS).
  3. Explore the potential future applications of electrochemotherapy in combination with immunotherapy or gene therapy to enhance treatment benefits.

Palliation for Cancer Patients

This live interactive medical program for veterinary professionals will review how and why pain is associated with cancer, in addition to various treatment modalities including oral medications and radiation therapy for improving cancer associated pain. This course will also focus on palliation of non-pain related cancer side effects, such as nausea.

Learning Objectives

  1. Pets with cancer often experience pain, even if they are hiding it.
  2. Treating cancer-related pain aggressively using multi-modality therapy.
  3. Radiation therapy can be a useful tool in palliating cancer-related pain.
