What’s New, Pussycat? An Update on Feline Heart Disease
This presentation will discuss newer issues in feline cardiology, including an update on phenotypic descriptions, available diagnostics, and treatments.
Learning Objectives
- Congestive heart failure (CHF) in a young cat is no longer a guarantee of poor prognosis, especially if occurs soon after an “incident.”
- Difficult to definitively diagnose heart failure radiographically in feline patients: several tests that may help strengthen or weaken our conviction.
- Furosemide: only absolutely necessary life-saving medication indicated in acute/decompensated CHF.
