Topic

What’s New, Pussycat? An Update on Feline Heart Disease

This presentation will discuss newer issues in feline cardiology, including an update on phenotypic descriptions, available diagnostics, and treatments.

Learning Objectives

  1. Congestive heart failure (CHF) in a young cat is no longer a guarantee of poor prognosis, especially if occurs soon after an “incident.”
  2. Difficult to definitively diagnose heart failure radiographically in feline patients: several tests that may help strengthen or weaken our conviction.
  3. Furosemide: only absolutely necessary life-saving medication indicated in acute/decompensated CHF.

Presenter: Maggie Schuckman, DVM, Diplomate, ACVIM (Cardiology)
